Understanding EN 13501-1
EN 13501-1 is the harmonised standard used across Europe to classify the reaction to fire of construction materials. It replaces a range of national standards, such as the UK’s BS476, Germany’s DIN 4102, and France’s NF P 92-507, by providing a unified test methodology and classification system. Under EN 13501-1, materials are categorized from A1 (non-combustible) to F (very high contribution to fire), with additional classifications for smoke production and flaming droplets. - Fire-Resistant EPDM Sheeting: Our flame-retardant EPDM sheeting, also used in rail applications, is converted into diaphragms for pedestal systems and has been tested to EN13501, achieving a Bfl-s1 fire reaction classification.
- Extrusions for Lighting Applications: We offer EPDM and Silicone extrusions for sealing lighting installations, and we are prepared to meet EN13501-1 requirements, especially for façade gaskets.
- Polyurethane Concrete Moulds: These moulds, though not currently subjected to fire rating tests, demonstrate our versatility in providing custom elastomer solutions.
- Extrusions for Façade Gaskets: These gaskets are generally used for rainscreen facade systems for modern buildings and provided in an EPDM material which offers weather resistance and high strength. Bespoke gaskets and seals can be developed, subject to minimum order quantities.
