J-Flex helps Heathrow Express train drivers stay warm
General News & Events, Extrusions - 6th Dec, 2019

We were recently asked to help solve a problem experienced by the train drivers of the Heathrow Express.

Earlier this year, drivers had been complaining about draughty cabs due to drop light window seals failing. Corrective action was needed, so following a visit to the Acton depot, J-Flex then proposed a solution and costings.

The proposed solution was a flock-coated extruded rubber window seal, manufactured in a fire retardant, low smoke, low toxicity EPDM approved to EN45545.

Following satisfactory testing of an initial sample coil, an order was placed to replace the problem seals on the whole fleet. Production was done swiftly and delivery made ahead of schedule.

We are pleased to know the seals are performing well and report that the drivers are now happy and snug in their cabs in time for the winter and Christmas period.
